CRISTALINO LODGE HAS SIGNED UP TO THE WTTC BUENOS AIRES DECLARATION
WTTC DECLARATION ON ILLEGAL TRADE IN WILDLIFE
The signatories to the Buenos Aires Declaration of the WTTC (World Travel & Tourism Council), acknowledging the devastating impact of the illegal trade in wildlife, on people and animals, and the positive role that Travel and Tourism can play in addressing this on the ground, agree to make the following commitments:
- Signatories will not knowingly facilitate the sale or transporting of wildlife products when trading in such products infringes the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and is consequently illegal under international law.
- Agree to undertake obligations regarding our own economic sector and business purpose, affirming the intention to address this issue and bring an end to the illegal wildlife trade.
- Agree to regularly assess the effects of the commitments, in order to evaluate what has worked and to identify and address any challenges.
We call upon the entire Travel & Tourism sector to follow our lead and help to bring an end to the illegal wildlife trade, by signing this Declaration and supporting all the Commitments.
