The trails within our reserves range from easy to moderate and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are not long; mostly between 2 and 4 kilometers (1.2 – 2.4 miles). The idea is to enjoy nature and learn about the forest as the guides point out the birds, plants, monkeys and other features of the forest.
This longer trail goes through a variety of different habitats, including bamboo groves and areas that are partially flooded during certain months of the year.
Duration: 2 to 4 hours.
Difficulty level: Easy.
On this short trail in the terra firma forest, which connects to others, you can see a fig tree with spectacular roots.
Duration: 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Difficulty level: Easy.
Red-handed howler (Alouatta belzebul).
Beginning on the bank of the river, this trail leads into the interior of the forest and ends up at the “Secret Garden,” an area of ornamental vegetation growing amongst a large slab of rock.
Duration: 2 to 3 and a half hours.

Accessed following a short boat ride, this trail passes through areas of terra firma forest and transition forest, crossing small streams that become completely dry during certain months of the year.
Duration: 3 to 4 and a half hours.

Following a 40-minute boat ride upriver into the reserve, this trail takes visitors through a luxuriant forest containing many Brazil nut trees. The largest of these is about 1,000 years old and requires six people with arms extended to give it a hug.

This trail passes through a beautiful rock formation covered with ornamental plants and heads for a stream bordered by palm trees. There is also a kind of salt lick along this trail, naturally rich in salts and other minerals, offering an important supplement to the diet of various creatures. The Chip Haven Observation Tower is located along this trail and access can be included as part of the tour.
Duration: 2 and a half to 4 hours. It also provides access to the Francisco Trail.

Accessible from the Rock Trail, this long trail named after one of our legendary guides who first discovered it, has very well-preserved forest, as well as bamboo groves.
Duration: 4 to 5 hours.
Difficulty level: Moderate.
This trail provides the opportunity to appreciate the sheer variety of the Amazon forest, taking visitors through a luxuriant terra firma forest, including areas that are partially flooded during the green season. One of the most fascinating trees along the trail is the walking palm (Socratea exorrhiza), several of which can be seen, with their unusual stilt roots.
Duration: 4 to 5 hours.

Following a 40 to 60 minute boat ride upriver into the reserve, one joins a 6km trail (round trip - 12km) through the terra firma forest. The trail is recommended as an opportunity to appreciate nature and learn about the forest, listen to the vibrant and varied sounds of the jungle and look for any animals that might be passing by. In the dry season, this activity can be combined with a pleasant visit to the limao rapids, where one can swim, relax, recharge one’s energy and enjoy the River Cristalino and the exuberant scenery all around.
