The CRISTALINO LODGE is pleased to announce that it has been chosen for the Global Vision Award 2012, presented by the respected magazine Travel + Leisure, in the conservation category. This is a prestigious award that recognizes the efforts of “visionaries” to “change the world for the better”, in the publication’s own words.
Established in 2005, the award recognizes the outstanding efforts of individuals and organizations that are working to preserve the world’s natural and man-made treasures. This year's judges included: award-winning industrial designer Yves Béhar; president and CEO of the World Monuments Fund, Bonnie Burnham; the conservationist and philanthropist Gregory Carr; the executive director of the Gensler global design firm, David Gensler; executive chairman of Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, Ho Kwon Ping; the founder of Women for Women International, Zainab Salbi; Nobel laureate in economics, Joseph Stiglitz; School of International and Public Affairs program director at Columbia University, Anya Schiffrin: and the founder of Room to Read, John Wood.
The Cristalino Lodge is a premier Amazon destination for nature lovers. Located in an 11,399-acre nature reserve, which is six times the size of another renowned Brazilian ecological reserve, the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, the hotel offers some unique outdoor experiences. The ecological bungalows, specially built to harmonize with the jungle, ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The Cristalino Lodge is dedicated to maintaining its activities geared to sustainability and has founded the Cristalino Ecological Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that carries out activities aimed at conservation and supporting the community living in the Cristalino area.
